Influenza A(H5N6) in Laos

As of 9 April 2021, the first human case of avian influenza A(H5N6) virus infection was reported in Laos. A five year old boy developed symptoms on 28 February 2021, was hospitalised and recovered. He had exposure to poultry, which also tested positive to A (H5N6). No further cases were detected.
