On 5 June 2018 confirmed the death of a 64-year-old woman who contracted hepatitis A linked to the consumption of a brand of frozen pomegranate. There is a national recall of the product.

As of 6 March 2018, an outbreak involving a total of 65 cases (58 confirmed) with a death has been reported in Victoria since November 2017. Many of the cases have identified as men who have sex with men.

As of 12 February 2018, a total of 17 cases of Hepatitis A have been confirmed, linked to consumption of imported dates, with patients reporting symptoms from December 2017 onwards. Investigations support the source of infection as imported dates and the product was recalled on 6 February 2018.

As of 18 January 2018, an outbreak with 229 cases focussed on the Gironde Department in 2017 has been reported. Mid-summer, there was a spike in cases related to infections at a restaurant. From September the outbreak was predominantly among men. In the latest month of reporting, December 2017, 16 male and two female cases alone were reported.
