19 Feb 2019 Bwijanga. Uganda

The latest case was a 36-year-old male from Kikingura village, Kitamba parish, Bwijanga sub-county in Masindi District who had symptom onset on 15 December 2018 and died on 31 December 2018 after presenting signs and symptoms typical of Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever. Laboratory confirmation was done subsequently.

Two new cases were confirmed on 25 September 2018, at the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI). The cases, a 30 and a 10-year-old from Isingiro and Luweero districts respectively are currently hospitalised. As of 25 September 2018, a total of nine cases (five confirmed and four suspected) and two deaths have been reported across the country.

On 23 May 2018, a 35 year old male suspected viral haemorrhagic fever case died in Mubende Hospital. On 24 May 2018 results confirmed Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever. Follow up is ongoing.
