Since 5 July 2018 to 7 September 2018 a total of 3403 suspected cholera cases, including 67 deaths have been reported. Five new health districts, Keita, Madawa Dakoro, Mirriah and Aguie, have reported new cases recently. Madanroufa district remains the most affected district, accounting for 75% (2545) of the reported cases.

From 2 July 2018 to 7 August 2018, a total of 993 cases including 15 deaths have been reported from Maradi Region. The outbreak which initially started in Madarounfa health district on the border with Nigeria has now spread to a second health district, Maradi Commune. Both health districts are in Maradi Region. A total of 19 samples have tested positive by culture for Vibrio cholerae O1 inaba.

As of 17 July 2018, a total of 123 suspected cases with four deaths have been reported from ten villages in Madarounfa district, Maradi region on the border with Nigeria. Three cases have been confirmed for Vibrio cholerae O1 inaba at the Centre for Medical and Health Research in Niamey.
