As of 7 April 2019, a total of 5,272 suspected cases of chikungunya have been reported (of which 61 have been laboratory confirmed). Cases are reported in 8 out of 12 departments: Kouilou, Bouenza, Pointe Noire, Plateaux, Pool, Niari, Lékoumou and Brazzaville. The department of Kouillou is the most affected with 41% of cases reported.

From 7 January to 8 February 2019, a total of 1,968 suspected cases (including 8 confirmed) have been reported in two districts, Hinda-Loango and Mvouti-Kakamoeka. More than three-quarters of the cases were reported from Diosso in Hinda-Loango District.

An outbreak of Chikungunya disease was notified to WHO by the Republic of Congo on 9 January 2019. The first cases were identified on 7 January 2019, with symptom onset on 3 January 2019. As of 13 February 2019, there have been a total of 1691 suspected cases, of which 12 have been laboratory confirmed in two departments, Kouilou and Pool.
