On 15 September 2021, Guinea declared the end of the Marburg Virus Disease outbreak. The virus was confirmed on 9 August 2021, marking the first time the disease emerged in the country and in West Africa.
On 6 August 2021, a case of Marburg virus disease was confirmed in Guinea. This is the first known case in Guinea and in West Africa. The case, had onset of symptoms on 25 July and died on 2 August 2021.
