As of 31 August 2021, the government of Côte d'Ivoire has informed WHO that a second laboratory has tested samples from a patient suspected of having Ebola (as reported on 16 August 2021), and found no evidence of the virus. WHO now considers that the patient did not have Ebola virus.

On 14 August 2021, a case of Ebola virus disease was confirmed in Cote d'Ivoire in an individual who arrived from Guinea by road on 12 August 2021. The patient is receiving hospital treatment. This is the first case in Cote d'Ivoire since 1994. There is no indication that the case is connected to the earlier outbreak in Guinea; further investigations are ongoing.
