As of 31 March 2025, India recorded 30,876 supected cases of chikungunya (1,741 confirmed) since the beginning of 2025. The states reporting the highest number of confirmed cases were Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on Chikungunya.
Chikungunya in India
As of 31 October, India recorded 12,587 chikungunya cases since the beginning of 2024. This accounts for the highest number of confirmed cases in the past six years. The states of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Tripura and Uttarakhand are showing a substantial increase in cases compatared to the past six years.
