Hepatitis A in Slovakia

Between January and October 2025, a total of 2,482 cases of Hepatitis A have been reported in Slovakia. The epidemiological situation has been improving in 2025, but many cases continue to be reported, and people living in conditions of poor sanitation and the Roma population are still disproportionally affected. Hepatitis A in Slovakia

As of 18 June 2025, 880 cases of Hepatitis A have been reported in 2025. An initial rise in cases was seen in 2022-2024 when children in the Roma communities in eastern Slovakia were most affected. This pattern has changed in 2025 and although the Roma population is still affected, cases have also been idenified in adults experiencing homelessness and substance abuse along with clusters in pre-school facilities.
