Chikungunya in French Guiana
As of 5 February 2026, four locally acquired (autochthonous) cases of chikungunya have been reported from French Guiana. Investigations have not revealed any link between these cases, indicating that the virus is already circulating widely within the local mosquito population. On 27 January 2026, local health authorities reported the first locally acquired (autochthonous) chikungunya case in French Guiana since 2014.
