As of 12 August 2025, Sante Publique France reported a total of 115 locally acquired cases of chikungunya for 2025. Cases have been reported from Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Corsica, Occitanie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Grand Est, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Nouveille-Aquitaine. On 8 July 2025, a locally acquired (autochthonous) case of chikungunya was confirmed in Claix, Isere in Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes. This is the second locally acquired case in this region. On 2 July 2025, Sante Publique France reported a total of 14 locally acquired cases of chikungunya since 1 May 2025. Cases have been reported from Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Corsica, Occitanie and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and for the first time, Grand Est region. A further case in a child with no travel history has been reported by local health authorities in Girode, Nouvelle-Aquitaine on 2 July 2025. On 30 June 2025, the regional health agency of Grand Est in mainland France reported a locally acquired case of chikungunya. Epidemiological investigations have indicated that the case had frequented the municipalities of Lipsheim and Fegersheim during their viraemic period. Entomological surveys will be carried out to look for the presence of Aedes albopictus larvae or mosquitoes and to carry out vector control measures if found. On 25 June 2025, Sante Publique France reported a total of eight locally acquired cases of chikungunya since 27 May 2025. Cases have been reported from four different provinces in the south of the country. Two cases in Occitane (Hérault and Gard); three cases in Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur (Var and Bouches-du Rhône), one case in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (Drôme) and two cases on the island of Corisca (Corse du Sud). On 16 June 2025, Sante Publique France reported a second autochthonous case of chikungunya in mainland France in 2025. The case was detected in Herault and is the first locally acquired case in the Occitaine Region this season. Since 1 May 2025, 59 travel associated chikungunya cases have been reported in the region. The first autochthonous case of chikungunya in mainland France in 2025 was reported on 13 June 2025 in the commune of La Crau, in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur Region.
