Meningococcal disease in United Kingdom

As of 23 March 2026, a total of 20 confirmed meningococcal disease cases, with two deaths, have been reported in Kent. 19 of these cases have been confirmed as group B meningococcal disease. A further nine suspected cases are under investigation, bringing the total to 29 cases. A targeted vaccination programme has started and preventative antibiotic treatment is being offered to possible contacts as a precautionary measure.
