Chikungunya in Peru
Between 1 January and 9 August 2025 a total of 84 cases were reported, of which 16 were laboratory confirmed and 68 classified as probable. Confirmed cases have been reported in the departments of San Martin (14 cases) and Loreto (2 cases). No deaths have been reported.
cVDPV3 in Chad
As of 28 August 2025, one case of circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus type 3 (cVDPV3) was reported this week, with onset of paralysis on 20 June, from Chari Baguirmi. This is the first cVDPV3 in the country this year.

Mpox in Mozambique
As of 24 August 2025, a total of 65 mpox cases, with no deaths, have been confirmed in 2025. Mpox clades Ib and II (a and/or b) has been reported. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on mpox.

As of 27 August 2025, a total of 228 locally acquired cases of chikungunya have been reported since the beginning of 2025. Cases have been reported from Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Corsica, Occitanie, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Grand Est, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté and Nouveille-Aquitaine. Mpox in Turkey
On 23 August 2025, the World Health Organization reported a case of clade Ib mpox in Turkey, detected on 7 August 2025. The case is reported to have had a travel history to the United Arab Emirates. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on mpox.
Acute watery diarrhoea in Afghanistan
As of 16 August, a total of 106,196 cases of acute watery diarrhoea and 50 associated deaths have been reported since the beginning of 2025. Of these cases, 60,585 cases were amongst children aged under 5 years old. The highest incidence rates have been reported from Paktya, Nimroz, Kabul, Khost and Farah.
