On 19 July 2025, Queensland Government reported a travel-associated clade I mpox case in Queensland, Australia. This is the second confirmed clade I mpox case reported in Australia. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on mpox.
Mpox in Italy ex Tanzania
As of 27 June 2025, the World Health Organization reported an imported clade Ib mpox case in an adult with a recent history of travel to Tanzania. This is the first confirmed clade Ib mpox case reported in Italy. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on mpox.
Mpox in USA
As of 18 June 2025, a fifth imported case of clade I mpox was reported from the US. The latest case was reported from Massachusetts state. All five cases reported to date had recent travel to countries with sustained clade I mpox transmission. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on mpox.
Mpox in India
On 4 May 2025, India retrospectively reported nine cases of mpox due to clade Ib mpox, detected between December 2024 and March 2025. This brings the country's total to 10 cases. Mpox in Germany
On 29 April 2025, the World Health Organization reported an additional confirmed case of clade Ib mpox, bringing the total number of clade Ib mpox cases in Germany to 10. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on mpox.
Mpox in China
As of 16 April 2025, a second clade Ia mpox case was reported in China. This case had a history of travel to Democratic Republic of Congo. A total of seven clade Ib mpox cases have also been reported from China in 2025. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on mpox.

As of 9 April 2025, a total of five confirmed clade Ib mpox cases have been reported in Thailand. All cases had a history of international travel. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on mpox.

Mpox in Switzerland
On 8 April 2025, the Switzerland Federal Office of Public Health reported their first case of clade Ib mpox in an individual who had returned from Africa at the beginning of April 2025. Mpox in Angola
As of 9 March 2025, eight confirmed mpox cases have been reported in Angola. Mpox clade Ib has been reported. Please our Topics in Brief article for further details on mpox.
Mpox in Brazil
As of 7 March 2025, Brazil's Ministry of Health has confirmed the first clade Ib mpox case in Brazil. This case had contact with an individual from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Mpox in France

Mpox in UAE
As of 14 February 2025, the United Arab Emirates reported their first case of clade Ib mpox in an individual with a recent history of travel to Uganda. Mpox in Ireland ex DRC
On 6 February 2025, the Health Service Executive of Ireland reported one case of clade I mpox in an Irish resident who recently visited the Democratic Republic of Congo. This is the first confirmed clade I mpox case in Ireland. The Health Service Executive of Ireland report risk to the Irish public is low. As of 2 February 2025, a total of 145 confirmed mpox cases and 4 deaths have been reported in Central African Republic. Clade Ia mpox has been isolated from confirmed cases. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on mpox.
Mpox in United Kingdom ex Uganda
As of 4 February 2025, UKHSA has confirmed nine cases of clade Ib mpox in the UK. The ninth case was reported on 4 February 2025 and had a travel history to Uganda. Please see our Topics in Brief article for further details on mpox.
Mpox in Oman ex UAE
As of 15 December 2024, the Sultanate of Oman had reported its first recorded case of mpox due to clade I. The case is an adult male residing in Oman who reported travelling from the United Arab Emirates. Information on subclade is not yet available. Mpox in Pakistan ex UAE
The first case of clade Ib mpox previously reported to the WHO on 2 December 2024 is an adult male who had been residing in the United Arab Emirates. Mpox in Canada
As of 22 November 2024, the first case of clade Ib mpox was in reported in Manitoba, Canada, by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC). The case is travel-related and linked to recent outbreaks reported in central and eastern Africa. The risk to the general population in Canada remains low at this time. Mpox in Gabon ex Uganda
As of 6 October 2024, Gabon had reported two confirmed cases of mpox. The first case was reported on 22 August 2024 in Libreville. This case had recently travelled to Uganda, where it is considered likely the virus was contracted. The second case was a known contact of the first. Mpox in Sweden ex Africa
As of 15 August 2024, a case of mpox clade I has been reported in a returned traveller in Stockholm. This is the first mpox clade I case reported outside the African continent. This traveller visited a region of Africa reporting a major outbreak of mpox clade I.
